What the fuck? I write and publish rare pair fics because I like connecting with other fans. I'm not keeping track of how many hours I spend on my stories, and I'm sure as hell not thinking other people don't deserve to read my works. I'm sorry the person who wanted you to credit their 'imagine' was rude to you, but grow up.

(Anonymous) 2022-01-26 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh? You want OP to grow up and ... what, post the fic they don't want to post because you said to?

They're well in their own rights to post or not post for whatever reason they want. Idk who is the child here

Op is certainly well within their rights to post their work or keep it to themselves. I don't think anyone would deny that.

But OP calling the people whose ideas they took "lazy assholes" and pretending that their fic is some precious jewel of a "reward"? I think "grow up" is a perfectly reasonable response to that kind of attitude.

+100000 They can do what they want, but they're coming across as stunningly misanthropic in this secret. It's been a while since the level of petty meanness in a secret made me double-take, but this secret accomplished it and then some.

(Anonymous) 2022-01-28 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
Still OP.

AYRT never said OP had to post their fic, or even implied it. They certainly didn’t mean that OP needed to grow up because they wouldn’t post in general, that was clearly referencing OP’s shitty and judgmental attitude towards all imagine writers. You’re just pulling things out of your ass to try to defend OP, even though you know what they said is indefensible. That’s why you’re being disingenuous and pretending AYRT said things they obviously didn’t.

I kind of understand where OP is coming from, because there is some weird entitledness behind, "I inspired your 200k word epic with this one sentence, why didn't you credit me?"

Yeah, really. If that happened to me I'd be very reluctant to post anything further I wrote based on an imagine. If you don't credit them, they might freak out. If you do credit them, the fact that you credited them and wrote an epic-length fanfic based on an idea they liked enough to "imagine" isn't enough?

Edit: Ah, I misread the secret and thought OP did credit the "author" of the imagine and people whined that OP hadn't credited the imaginer enough. Long day. Yeah, if they give you a sentence of idea that prompts something big and cool, doesn't hurt to give them a sentence of credit. But also, wow, if I was in that position I would just assume that the author of this long detailed fic had a similar idea and the guts/time/skill to write it.

I can understand how that is annoying, but it's equally annoying for someone to take an idea that's too specific to have NOT come from you and not even mention they were inspired by somebody.

(For the record, I'd probably keep my mouth shut if it happened to me, but it certainly wouldn't make me think very highly of the author.)

+100000

(Anonymous) 2022-01-27 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Same. Why not say where they got the idea?

Not something general like, "What if Boba Fett ran a bakery?" but a plotty prompt?

Geez, it's no rewarding THEM. It's enjoying an inspirational prompt, OP. Gawd, chill.

This is getting awfully alliterative... XD

I feel like this can depend though because some imagines are more detailed than others. If I wrote a detailed several paragraph long imagine and someone wrote a story following the exact plot progression I'd laid out I would personally like at least an acknowledgement.
