All those shows have one person in common, Mike Schur, given that he was one of the writers on the Office, co-show runner on Parks and Rec and B99, and show runner on the Good Place. So the comparisons aren’t just random.

AKA Cousin Mose

But for real, I think Mike Schur is a great tv comedy writer and show runner! I don't watch all 4 shows consistently, but all of them have their fair share of funny stuff and interesting characters.

You’re right! Yup that’s him, from the Schrute Beet farm.

He does a good job of creating relatable characters and setting up dynamics and relationships, beyond the funny and witty jokes.

I realise in hindsight that the secret should have been 'I'm sick of people recommending Parks & Rec, the Office, and B99 when I tell them I enjoyed the Good Place, because I've seen barely one episode of the other three, and I have zero desire to watch another one. Idk why the Good Place is the exception?'

I see. Some people enjoy a fantastical comedy while others enjoy workplace sitcoms. As mentioned before, humor and genre is subjective. It just so happens that at least one writer/show runner was involved on all four shows.
