Re: Very New Beginner to Dungeons and Dragons
(Anonymous) 2022-01-28 01:47 am (UTC)(link)One of the handbooks (I think for DMs) has a page dedicated to finding out what you like. I still think everyone should look at it so they can pin down what they want out of a campaign. The list goes Acting, Exploring, Instigating, Fighting, Optimizing, Problem Solving, Storytelling. The page is called "Know Your Players."
Otherwise finding a game (like at your local comics shop) will probably be your best bet at actually getting a feel for D&D. You can also find beginner-friendly games on Roll20.

(Anonymous) 2022-01-28 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)I wasn't sure where to look because Critical Role seemed a bit over-whelming to me right now, but the short campaigns sounds like a good start for me :D

(Anonymous) 2022-01-28 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)That's actually really good advice for the 'Know your players' bit because I think I probably would have head-dived into what sounded interesting rather than really looked into it properly.
