I don’t understand why I’m stuck on a particular scene for my fic. It’s the scene I’ve been looking forward to writing the most (just domestic fluff with some dancing), but I can’t seem to get it right. Since I’ve been stuck on the scene for weeks, I already wrote out the rest of the fic (including the boring stuff), so it’s driving me nuts that I can’t get the scene to come out right.

I'm sorry to hear that nonny. I hate being stuck on a scene, especially if it's "The Scene", one where I've been looking forward to writing.

What is it about the scene that is stalling your progress? Is it just getting the scene started? Connecting the actions/emotions together isn't connecting?

Whether or not you can get the scene written soon, I hope you will be able to get some writing done.

I have the scene started with A and B eating breakfast and talking about their favorite songs. A song that A likes comes on the radio and he wants to dance with B, but is a little embarrassed to say it. That’s the part I’m getting stuck on because everything I write for A in this scene sounds either OOC or just plain dumb. Maybe I’m thinking too hard about it and am stuck trying to get it perfect.

First, that sounds like such a sweet scene! I'm such a sucker for fluff.

Second, I think that you should let him say the OOC/dumb thing and keep the scene going. You can always go back and fixate on improving it/changing it later, but hopefully, you will be able to complete the scene. That will be a move forward with your fic! You might be able to find a way change/add to the part where A is trying to find the courage to dance with B after you complete the scene.
I could have sworn I saw this sentiment on here before but it'll be easier to fix/alter/edit with something you have written rather than a blank sheet of paper.

Best wishes and good luck with writing this scene!

Thanks for the advice! I’m gonna try and leave the dumb thing A says as is and do my best to go from there (and maybe shrink the font so I can’t reread it lol).

Oof. Been there. Too many times for my liking.

I’m sorry you’ve been there too, nonny. It really sucks, huh?

Yeah. Sometimes I just say "fuck it" and throw it out there. Other times, it just gets scrapped entirely.
