(Anonymous) 2022-02-04 07:20 am (UTC)(link)Whoops, except they didn’t, and I didn’t see the difference the first 20 times I looked for some reason.

(Anonymous) 2022-02-04 03:25 am (UTC)(link)Also, for some truly baffling reason my dumb ass decided Voldemort was pronounced Vold-er-mort. I honestly don't even know with that one. I think up until a certain age I just randomly decided how I thought a name should sound and then proceeded to not give a shit whether I was right or not.
I may have also called Dumbledore Dum-bluh-dor. Yup.
Rolling my eyes at my thirteen-year-old self so hard rn.

(Anonymous) 2022-02-04 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)Good question. I feel like I’ve heard it be mispronounced as “Her-my-ah-knee” at some point, but I don’t know how that mispronunciation happens.
Re: Fandom (mis)pronunciations
(Anonymous) 2022-02-04 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)The ah sound is the her-MY-oh-nee. The MY has a "ah" sound (maybe the final H is misguiding here?).
Look at the wiki for the Greek Hermione on the pronunciation part:
Hermione (/hɜːrˈmaɪ.əni/;[1] Greek: Ἑρμιόνη [hermi.ónɛː]). The Greek pronunciation doesn't have the "ah" sound that is clearly written in the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) for the English Hermione as A.
I'm not the Anon making the previous comment, but I'm from Europe and we too use the Greek pronunciation for the Greek gods where I'm from. I've also studied classic Greek and Latin at school. The English pronunciation of Hermione is always funny to me because from my POV you're making the name sound more "complicated" than what it actually is.
