Actually, when I used to write fic, a significant number of readers of my f/f content were guys. I wrote for several anime fandoms in which the demographic leaned heavily white dudes.

"TERF" is not actually an accurate name. Plenty of people who are involved in the movement in question aren't radical feminists at all.

No, you were right the first time. Enough lesbians in fandom who aren't TERFs are like that. It's terrible for the lesbians who aren't, but me and other friends I have in fandom (including other lesbians who ship M/M) have been burned too many times. If I can't see evidence that someone with a lesbian flag in their icon won't attack you for wanting to discuss men or nonbinary characters occasionally, I'm gonna stay far away from them.

As a lesbian, yeah I don’t blame you. As someone said upthread “Not all lesbians are TERFs, but most TERFs are lesbians”. And as someone that hates TERFs and transphobia, that’s something that I’ve come across enough to know that that saying holds a lot of truth, so I have to be on the watch for that kind of awful behavior from certain lesbians I meet.

Not to mention the awful tendency for biphobia that an unfortunate amount of lesbians have, which is obviously terrible. I swear we’re not all like that, but again, I don’t blame you.

yeah i've had people get really nasty at me for mentioning that i've dated guys in the past. which is like... yes??? i'm bi??? that means i'm attracted to both men and women??? they act like you're tainted if you've touched a man, which is ridiculous.

it's happened to me enough that i just don't want to risk it anymore.

I don't know if the people messaging me were lesbians or not, but I really didn't need essays on what it means to be a 'real woman' and how trans women should be harmed, then proceeded to say how they liked my work in the messages.
