I'm not familiar with this author/works - what is it exactly that they do that's so disturbing?

She's good at incorporating horror elements in general. So... disturbing in a good way.

With the romances? It's not like she's doing anything wrong, per se? Something about the physicality - to me - feels more like intrusive thoughts than 'fun time'.

I don't... really wanna read about how some woman hated the oral sex her ex-husband gave, come to think of it. It's just dreary. So there's that too.

tbf, the ex-husband in question was emotionally abusive and only married the protagonist for economic reasons (while pretending to her that it was a love match). So I'd call that scene less dreary and more purposefully disturbing in furtherance of the plot and characterizations.
