Probably one of the nuked anime ones. That site went through a real weird phase of hating, like unhealthy rabid hating, of anime at one point. I have no idea why.

It might have been Magnificent Bastard, because there are an awful lot of them among my favorite characters and I remember someone pointing that out and me not being sure why it was in caps.

This will be a throwback, but Auntie Macaser from The Big Comfy Couch. I mean she always checked in on Lunette, so maybe she counts as "her kid", but the lady was always off on am adventure! Seeing new things, going through new experiences! But she would always come back to Lunette when she needed help. Shout out to Granny Garbanzo, who I think also didn't have any kids!

Adding Carmen San Diego to this list.

AND, problematic as she may have been, I looked up to Auntie Mame (Rosalind Russell movie). Granted, another aunt character who takes in a kid, but otherwise is super ~bohème~ and avant garde and just completely out there, ahead of the trends and always exploring.

A special shout out to Ms. Honey, from Matilda, who also takes in a kid and works with them (lol, this may actually be completely the opposite of your ask)...

I'm looking back and I think the aunt character was who I wanted to be as a kid -- when playing house, I wanted to be auntie, babysitter, or teacher. Not the mom, because that implied a dad, and it also implied certain responsibilities. Lol. I guess the only one that really counts for you would be Carmen San Diego (maybe Auntie Mame too, as she was definitely like kids? Wtf am I supposed to do with this?) but...none of the aunties seemed to plan on having kids, the kids just kinda fell into their laps and they rose to the occasion as best they could.

I was trying to think of characters when I was reading the secret, and the only one I could come up with was Rosa Diaz, so Rosa Diaz.

Dee Reynolds from Always Sunny. doesn't want kids and knows she shouldn't have them anyway. she was a surrogate mother for a couple but expressed no interest in wanting one of her own. has no maternal instincts whatsoever but likes cats.
