I believe that people should be able to alter their physical appearance through surgery if they aren’t happy with it, as long as they aren’t doing themselves serious harm. But when an actor or musician does it and it makes their features look stretched, distorted, or otherwise unnatural to me, it can be so off-putting to me that I can’t watch their stuff after the modifications. (I don’t generally have this issue with changes due to illness or injury, though serious scarring can sometimes be difficult to look at because I tend to imagine the related pain and trauma.) It is what it is, but it feels really shallow of me. Specific celebrities include Nicole Kidman and Courtney Cox, though neither have anything on what went on with Kenny Rogers.
