My new bun was in a new and hilarious place when I woke up (and I was prepared with my phone this time), my package from Jo-Ann's arrived, lunch break let me add more stuff to the insane bellydancer belt, and the stuff I was struggling with all last week at work GOT FIXED OMG, now I'm drinking white grapefruit juice again at last, so... It was okay.

Happy Hearts Day! I got to hang with the Monstrous Bebe, got in a phone call with my mum and sis and older brother, and chatted with them all plus little brother in texts (and we all sent silly selfies to the group), so it was a great day.

Oh also! My ex came by with his half of the mortgage payment and brought me one of his spare Xacto knives (no fucking body in this town had one for sale), so that was great, too.

Valentines Day is honestly my favorite holiday, and I had a great one! I love it because I just love love in general! Especially when it comes to my girlfriend, loved ones, and ships! Plus getting to listen to my love song playlist and watching some of the few romcoms I enjoy!(Even though I do love love, I think most straight up romance stories are boring, and I only like romcoms if they’re more funny than romantic lol)

But I won’t lie, I also love it for the chocolate! Sure, I can also get that on Halloween and Christmas, and I love those too. But the romantic and platonic love aspects of V Day make the chocolate all the sweeter to me!

NASA and Aliens

Does anybody have any ideas what sort of checklists NASA would run in the event of an actual sapient alien contact with the ISS or crew launch vehicle. I'm writing a story, and just want a vaguely realistic set of procedures for the scenario. I know that NASA says it has no official guidelines, but those guys have checklists for everything, so I'm just gonna assume that that was a lie to stop a tonne of little green men style headlines.

I have no idea but I'm sure some of it would include verifying level of sentience, purpose of visit, (knowing the USA, an ambassador of culture should be higher up, and would be tied up with the CIA) but then more technical scientific things that have to with alien biology & tech. Or maybe they have different departments that deal with each.

Idk, but I'd think the first thing that would freak aerospace engineers and scientists, and then everyone else, out, if aliens knocked on a window of the ISS and waved would be "how the fuck did they get so close without us noticing?"

Question for the hive mind....

I don't have any experience with addiction or living with a recovering alcoholic. Watching a show where one person in a 'ship is a recovering alcoholic, and the other person has a glass of wine some nights with dinner/afterward.

If they are intimate right after this, is the fact that person a (recovering) can most likely taste the alcohol on person b if they kiss an issue? Is it something that could trigger a relapse? The show doesn't touch on it and makes it seem person a is fine being around/intimate with a person who just drained a glass of wine.

Just makes me wonder.
