I feel that just in general fiction of all sorts has forgotten what joy looks like. A little bit of silly camp helps with coping with the world.

I think it's because we're living in pretty dark times.

(Anonymous) 2022-02-15 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
The darker the world, the more desperately needed is the light.

(Anonymous) 2022-02-15 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
No shit. Yet the harder it is to also find the light that is relatable.

It doesn't need to be relatable, just enjoyable.

Sometimes you need a little relateability. Otherwise you're watching a light-hearted show thinking "What are you upset for, you don't have any problems!"

Exactly. I like camp fun, but it's easier to relate and care about darker things, ha ha fun plots just fall flat for me.

So I escape into the horror

Another DA

Not everyone does, but people who do absolutely need relatability don’t seem to get that. Sometimes people can just enjoy a story that they don’t find relatable at all, it’s not that complicated.

Shit, sorry, that was super passive-aggressive for no good reason!
