I am just learning about Wordle.

Harry Potter. I watched the first movie around the time that Goblet of Fire was coming out, and one of my friends had previously tried to get me into it but ofc as a kid my thought was 'I've already read about a wizard school (Worst Witch). what does this one have that that one doesn't?' and I was ADAMANT about WW being the better and refused to read HP (I'm not sure if Jill Murphy ever made transphobic comments like JK did, but imo still better)

I got into HP late!!! Like I watched the movies with the book in tow and only started getting into fandom around 2012/2013. Which was late, relative to the fandom's heyday (but in a way I'm glad I missed the drama and could just watch retellings of it from the sidelines).

I just learned about Wordle the other day, too. I played it a couple of times and it was okay, but I'm confused about the countdown clock aspect. Am I meant to just sit around and wait for it to count down, or...?

I'm late to literally every trend, I can't even pick one.

Yep, you can guess 1 word every 24 hours.

I think that's one of the biggest reasons it's gotten so popular - you can't just run through and do a million words immediately and get bored of it.

Yes, exactly! And you have community thing going on, because word of the day is the same for everyone.
I prefer clones though, geography one is my favorite

The geography one is great, I also do an NBA one I like because I'm a basketball nerd

There's also semantle which is by far the hardest IMO - you have to guess the word based on the most similar *meaning*. It's very hard for me to wrap my head around it at times.

I like nerdle. It's math, but it's simple! Easier than wordle and helps to overcome my resentment of math. Quordle is fun. It's like 4 times wordle.

Semantle is way too hard! I just go... nope, I can't.

Myspace. By the time I actually got one just about everyone had already migrated to FB.

Tumblr.

Oh man, hardcore same. I spent plenty of time scrolling other people's tumblrs, but I didn't get one of my own until 2019. I still feel pretty ambivalent about it, tbh.

Same. I use it to promote my fics, but I dunno how to actually talk to people on there or anything like that, so it's a bit boring. The fan content's nice though.

After a pair of false starts, I got into Tumblr last year.

I don't post much, but it has been fun so far.

I purposely get into popular Fandoms I'm interested in late, to avoid most of the drama and Shipping wars and other various bullshit I just can't deal with these days.

Enamel pins.

I didn't really like the whole Disney fantasy pin culture (where people would take payment for pins and then eventually deliver them 1-2 years later while still pumping out new designs weekly) so I mostly stuck to buying pins that were already made from various other shops. At the beginning of the pandemic, people started to get into collecting enamel pins as well BUT also a large group of people got into scalping them too. Instead of discouraging it, a number of pin makers allowed this to happen and now their pins they sell for like $20 are being resold for ten times that amount. It's wild to look at my collection and see a small piece of metal knowing I could sell that for hundreds of dollars if I wanted to simply because most enamel pin designs are a limited thing.

Dice collecting is another thing I'm very late to. People talk about sets that were sold in game stores ten years ago as though they are liquid gold. Feels like individual makers are nearly impossible to buy from between scalpers and collectors as well.

Field center cards in Yu-Gi-Oh! is another thing... I opened a box for a set I was excited for (it had cherry blossoms which is my aesthetic) and it had these cards inside. I don't think they're at all necessary now for the meta since most playmats have the spaces, but they are interesting. There's a whole group of creators out there that draw unique art for these cards and sell them in limited batches.

This is me with pretty much every fandom that had been really popular at one point - I usually enter when its at its most 'dead' like Supernatural and Hetalia.
