There is a really certain subset of writing (mostly indie I'll admit) where the anime/game tropiness is a huge THING. Most the stuff on Royal Road is this type of anime-esque or isekai type of works. (And they want serial stuff which makes it even more difficult. Sigh.)

It's interesting it IS making it's way into traditional publishing which is notoriously slow about these things. But it doesn't surprise me the way LitRPG and these anime tropes have taken off in the 'Zon categories/algorithms. Once we got past slice of life, anime was the next step. We'll see what fanfic stuff makes trad next. Hopefully not omegaverse, it's bad enough LAWYERS know what it is.
