.as a reader of fic, whenever I see something that has like 343 comments or something wily like that, I usually assume (correctly) it's people interacting with the author etc. Over the course of the work (i.e. you wrote 40 chapters, there's at least 5 people who always comment on each chapter and you interact with each of them, not counting the 17...20 people who later find this fic over time and also want to comment on each chapter or select chapters....)
