Honestly I never understood why they made his character that way --- trying to see if she had some unconscious bias due to being American-raised maybe? It was so cringe-y though.

And then later during the dressing montage that he kept trying to get her into slinky dresses was just super perv-y to me.

Honestly, I doubt they had any characterization-focused motive in mind for why Wye Mun Goh was portrayed like that... pretty sure they were just going for dumb laughs and something that suited Ken Jeong's comedic style.

His fake accent scene felt completely out of place. Up until then, all Asian actors spoke English with different accents. I don't think any of the viewers expected an Asian character with a stereotypical "Engrish" accent.

It seemed like Ken Jeong's not-so-subtle way of acknowledging that half of his career consisted of being an Asian Uncle Tom.
