Yep. It's very convenient that what they claim is empowering is seen as sexy by majority.

Sorry not sorry, a woman getting plastic surgery and dressing in basically her underwear to look like a cis man's wet dream isn't empowering, it's playing right into their kinks.

I love when my real preferences happen to be convenient! Makes shit a lot easier for me.

(Anonymous) 2022-03-12 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
Lol exactly!

Sorry not sorry, but nobody gives a fuck about what you personally think about individual women’s personal choices. If you want to examine the nuances behind the wider societal views on things like female sexuality, frequently unrealistic beauty standards and commercialized empowerment propagated by celebrities and corporations to impressionable teens, or just general feminism like someone who isn’t an asshole, that would be great. Many people in this thread are doing just that, and being perfectly civil and reasonable while they do it, without trying to generalize entire groups of women. But instead, you’re just basically shaming every woman who gets plastic surgery and dresses sexy like you know each and every one of these women, or like you’re some kind of authority on what women can find empowering or not. Just because it’s “convenient” that men like something, doesn’t mean every women is doing it for them, nor are they “playing right into their kinks”. There’s an endless amount of things men can find kinky, that it’s basically impossible to be or do anything without “playing into them”. So that line of thought is stupid. And it’s super shitty to go back to the “you only dress slutty to get men’s attention, you’re pushing feminism back by centuries” bs, so hopefully you don’t go all the way there. But you’re pretty close. Bottom line, it’s not up to you what every individual woman finds empowering, and it doesn’t always matter what men think to said individual women. And at least be original with your holier than thou judgements, because you’re like the fifth person to say something alone the lines of “it’s convenient that these outfits also appeal to men” in this secret thread.

Going by the length of your tl;dr comment, you seem to give several fucks!

(Anonymous) 2022-03-12 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
Calling out someone’s comment because you find it ridiculous isn’t the same as “giving several fucks”. But bad faith actors will always read whatever tone and intention they want to make themselves feel superior, or to suit their narrative, so *shrug*.

And if it’s tl;dr to you, why are you yourself even bothering to respond? Nobody is making you read, and this isn’t even the longest comment in this secret thread. It seems like you just read the first sentence, and had to jump in with your “I have to let them know that responding with more than one sentence means they actually do give a fuck, that’ll show em’!”. In actuality, I can be kind of long-winded about a lot of things. The length of my comments don’t correlate to how much I care about something. And that’s honestly true of most people. “And yet you responded, so you totes care” is basically a staple of the internet though, regardless of how wrong it frequently is. So your comment isn’t even original.

One can be attractive to men and also be empowered. What even is this nonsensical mentality that in order to be empowered as a woman, one has to avoid being attractive to men? Lol, that's not how empowerment works!

(Anonymous) 2022-03-12 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

(Anonymous) 2022-03-12 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
No, nonny! Nuance bad! Coexisting things make head explode!

(Anonymous) 2022-03-12 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not what the point being made is. It's "why is the empowerment COMING FROM beauty standards that align with being attractive to men"
