Hell, $40 is normal hardcover price these days, let alone premium. Anyone who wants the books at release date is paying pretty much exactly what they would for a traditional release, unless they are going for the big swag boxes. Which aren't my thing, but also aren't actually uncommon for popular authors - big book releases have been getting a merch push for ages.

The difference is there does overall seem to be an attitude from America that they are the 'best country on the planet!' despite there being major flaws in their system.
As an Aussie, I'm sick of being portrayed as backwater hicks in American media and generally online, when the majority of us live in cities and are pretty sophisticated. Do we have our share of idiots? Absolutely! just look up "Pauline Hanson' and her pathetic followers. Ugh! Tony Abbott was voted in and he's the biggest dick out there. Even our current PM 'ScoMo' is embarassing.
Again, the difference is that Aussies don't go around pronouncing to the planet that we are the best country out there.
I'm sorry to triggered Americans, but I see it constantly online. The USA has great, welcoming friendly people and there are many positives to their society. But there are also negatives. The moment anyone dares point out the negatives a bunch of people get triggered and get all defensive.

Funnily enough, they liked one of my fics first and left a nice comment. I clicked on their account, read some of their fics (they've written a lot!!) and was blown away by their works (excited to read more of their works)! A few days later they left another nice comment on one of my other fics even though I'd only left a kudos on one of their fics at that point. To know that someone who's written so many great fics found even one of my fics good is so like "OMG!!"

A lot of people do more than that, and paint every American with the same brush. You’re obviously not though, so I’m not talking about you. But I appreciate where you’re coming from, because you are correct. I have seen the jingoistic fervor from other Americans about being “the best country in the world”, which is obviously bs. These overly patriotic assholes are the worst, and they treat any fellow Americans that criticize parts of the country with a “leave if you don’t like it attitude”.

And the fact that other countries are stereotyped by Americans is stupid, completely.

i made a change to my work schedule after i fell sick at the end of'21, abd i feel it's actually taking effect. I feel so much more energy, my apartment is way cleaner, i eat and sleep better.

Yeah, I’d usually agree. Sometimes Google can’t give as much details as a person in the know, which people in this thread could be, including OP obviously. But when you simply ask “who the fuck is this?”, that really is an honestly rather dumb question meant for Google. Maybe if they had asked in a more reasonable way?
