Fictional creatures

[personal profile] philstar22 2022-03-15 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Let's try again. What are your favorite creatures and species from fiction and mythology?

Re: Fictional creatures

(Anonymous) 2022-03-15 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
Owlbears, definitely, from fiction. I don't know why, just they are the perfect blend of weird and awesome.

In mythology, I'd like to see a kelpie. From a safe distance, of course.

Dragons. Always dragons.

Gryphons are also very cool.

I always love dragons the best. Some are sapient, some aren't, but all are awesome.

Balrogs are another one that can be sapient or not depending on which one we're talking about. The most powerful like Gothmog are sapient, but the ones like Durin's Bane that come later don't seem to be.

For other creatures, I like porgs, phoenixes, anything Lovecraftian, Ysalamiri, Adipose (so cute), Tribbles, the nonsapient werewolves of Tolkien, sandworms of Dune, T-Rex and Raptors from Jurassic Park, Hydra, and Basilisk (and any fictional snake creatures really).

For species, I love vampires, Narn, Minbari, Klingons, Changelings, Romulans, Borg, Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Zabraks, Mon Calamari, Time Lords, The Silence, Ood, Satyrs, Kree, Asgardians, Celestials

Elves and dwarves and hobbits (Tolkien-style) (they're all equally great)
Mothmen
Bigfoots (and yetis, and Sasquatches)
Aliens (little grey men)
Specifically the version of bigfoots where they're also interdimensional aliens
Phoenixes
Vampires (both sexy and non-sexy varieties)
Werewolves (both sexy and non-sexy varieties)
Goblins

I always loved creatures like Dragons, Faries, Griffins, Hippogriffs, Hippocampus, Chimera, Medusa, Kelpie, and Selkie.

Some favorite Species/Groups are Cybertronians, Cardassians, Klingons, Mandalorians, Tusken Raiders, Banthas, Tauntauns, Those Who Came Before, Vampires, and Were-Creatures.

Cardassians are great. IMO the best Star Trek race by far.

Had to drive an hour and a half each way to visit a client in detention this morning. My back has been spasming ever since. I'm just counting the days until I can see the pain doctor.

Right now it is hailing here.

I drove home (2.5 hours). Drove to dermatologist who told me the redness in face is probably permanent. Drove to work and worked three hours.

Spent my evening trying to prepare for a job interview I have tomorrow. It is virtual and I am hoping nothing fucks up with my camera. Also had to try and move shit around since I will be in my bedroom. I AM STRESSING ABOUT IT.

my leg really fucking hurts and I still have to get everything out of the kitchen tonight so the bug guy can spray for roaches tomorrow morning and it's not even my fault I have roaches, some of my neighbors have this cute little habit of dumping garbage where they are not supposed to so of course the roaches come and then they get into the other apts.
Bitter? oh, a tad.

Quiet, considering how insane the last work week started off. Maybe we got all the freakiness out of the way last week, so now it's not so frantic. So I had time between tasks and on breaks to do a lot of the hand-drawn detail on my belly dancing veils, and now uh, I'm looking up tutorials on YouTube on how to actually dance with them. (I am like the least graceful person ever but I want to be able to take good pics in this at least.)

Gave out pies at work all day in exchange for people answering simple math problems. It was fun. Still fighting off this stupid cold, but at least it's not covid and it's been twelve days so I'm almost certainly not contagious anymore, I just sound like I swallowed a toad.

Went to Ikea to pick up my furniture order. I was so tired I couldn't keep a facial expression. The customer service person looked a bit concerned.

Got a new driver’s license and the picture is hideous. Partially because I’ve gotten very fat in the last year. Partially because I posed awkwardly. But I felt vain and embarrassed to ask her to take the picture again.

I know I’m not attractive. And that everyone around me must see that image frequently, it’s only a shock to me since I mostly avoid mirrors.

And I know that no one is judging me by my ID. They’ve already seen my face by that point.

In addition to all that, I’m trying to tell myself that maybe it’ll be a nice reminder of how far I’ve come when I manage to lose a bit more weight.

But right now, it’s still bothering me, giving me that awful anxious/shameful feeling in my stomach. Going to go home and have a snack and take a nap and hope I can at least put it out of my mind.
