Not to me it isn't but I always felt like Daniel's sneezing was meant to be another "ha nerd!" sort of thing because of how other characters react to it (which I am not comfortable with obviously.)

It was a nineties thing. Accommodating people with allergies was still new, lots of dumbass talk about how Real Men tough through it, that sort of stuff.

ye same thing with asthma, dramatically throwing away your inhaler to show how manly you are was kind of a common gag wasn't it
