What kind of location would you love to live in?

(Anonymous) 2022-03-20 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
City? Beachfront? Forest? Mountains? The plains?

Wooded valley, broadleaf not pine.

I want to live between the ocean and the mountains. Where my laundry is dried on lines outside and my clothes will smell like sunshine. And I'm not far from the city.

I currently live/grew up in a city, and there's moments where I can't imagine NOT living in a city, and then there's moments where that feels too small and I want something else. Can I say a house in the country/town and an apartment in the city? Can I have both? Lol

I would ideally like to live in a small city or a large college town. I'd like it to be hilly - ideally low, rolling hills - but also near a lake or river. With lots of trees (but specifically deciduous, not evergreen). With a long rainy season, and maybe a few weeks of snow.

I would love to live in a Desert environment. Someplace consistantly hot during the day, but cool at night (I'm sick of this Midwestern "Do I want to be Winter or Summer?" weather.)

I'm thinking some place like Las Vegas, but any city located in the desert will be fine.

Pacific Northwest. Evergreens, azaleas, blackberries, dramatic ocean cliffs, streams and rivers, and lots of rain.

Probably the forest for the most part, or at least partly forested. As much as I'd love the mountains, I'd be afraid that I'd pick that one unfortunate location where landslides are frequent or it's always fires. Yes, I realize fires happen in forests, but I could probably flee one of those faster.

I love to visit the beach, but I would never want to live there.

And if Valheim has taught me anything, stay the fuck out of the plains.

Give me a log cabin in the forest at the foot of the mountains, surrounded by trees and the sound of running water nearby. Animals on my doorstep, the ability to forage whatever I want, peace and tranquility with no real neighbours for miles.

Somewhere like where I grew up--surrounded by trees, close enough to town to be well-provisioned but far enough away to see the stars. I miss it a lot.

On the edge of the deep woods, next to a flowing stream that runs gently downhill to the sea. A small, sandy cove within short walking distance, with tide pools and a stretch of soft sand that nobody else knows about but me.

Beachfront in a major city.

Beachfront near downtown Vancouver would be incredibly sweet, and I live in greater Vancouver so I actually have a sense of what that would be like. But I DO hate the weather here, so hypothetically I might prefer to move somewhere warmer and drier.

Can you live close to the beach and close to downtown LA at the same time, or is that geographically impossible? I literally know nothing about the layout of LA!

I would like to be close to the mountains, preferably old ones without earthquakes.
I love plains, but I am not sure it's not going to became boring pretty fast.
I love the idea of watching sea every day, but I hate hot weather so... North sea?
I love pine forests, would like to live near one.

...See, my paternal grandparents lived in this lovely little house in a "village" which, as my dad would say, had a population of about 500 if you counted the trailer park and the cows. One stoplight in town and it's a four-way blinking red. Beautiful old houses, fields and lakes and forests all around, and a cemetery with headstones and monuments from the early 1800s two doors down. Unless there was a family gathering at their place, cars passed like once every few hours.

If I could live in a place like that, except with easier access to a sizable grocery store and internet that didn't completely suck, that would be my ideal.

Wooded area near a town. On the edge enough that I would be fairly alone but close enough for me to not worry about serial killers popping up like a slasher film (Yay anxiety!). And close enough for easy access to services and normal reasons too.

Up North. I can't abide by this heat nonsense.
