Serious question for the people who've watched Bridgerton...

The romance plot sounded pretty dumb, TBH. Is it worth watching for the sex scenes and humor, or should I just skip it?

I couldn't get past the second episode of Season 1. Got bored.

Personally I say skip it.

That said, if "Gossip Girl but make it a smutty period piece" sounds like your jam, then definitely watch it.

Haven't seen it (yet) but one friend, who read the books, was disappointed by the series (it wasn't as spicy as the books is one complaint I remember). Another friend, who hadn't read the books, found it enjoyable (but admitted it was more for the clothes).

I keep meaning to watch it because I have read some of the books and they're fluff/fun.

But I... don't like watching sex in TV lol. So I'll probably have to fast forward those parts. Like my brain goes, "Sex is for porn and books. Please keep sex out of my TV/movies."

I think I'm with you, there. I keep putting this one off because I know there'll be sex scenes. (And I'm ususally fine with them in books.)

Whereas for me the sex is the only part of this that sounds interesting. I hate romance. When reading that type of book, I just skip to sex scenes most of the time.

Have fun!

I find stairway sex fucking hot so...

(Anonymous) 2022-03-25 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you mind if i ask, what's the appeal? I'm curious, I just never really got it

(Anonymous) 2022-03-26 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
NA but it can be hot if the characters are into the discomfort/pain on top of just being so horny for each other and the discomfort of where they're doing it adding to the eroticism and excitement of it all but I think this is best expressed in written erotica where you can *know* that's part of the appeal for them.

There's something very unf for me when the pain either adds to their pleasure or is secondary to it to where they're not willing to stop just because of it.

(Anonymous) 2022-03-26 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
NA - I'd never really thought about it before, but yeah, ITA.

It's the combination of "too horny to stop," "the pain feels good," and also a middle ground between the two, where it's like, "Too horny and turned on to notice the discomfort; it's just a fly buzzing in the background while everything in the foreground is yes. yes. yes."

(Anonymous) 2022-03-26 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Hm. It's interesting because that's something that's usually very much up my alley, but in this context, doesn't work for me at all. Oh well! That's life, ain't it funny.

Thanks for explaining!

For me the appeal would be too horny, have to do this now, can't stop until we're finished because we are just so desperately horny.

(Anonymous) 2022-03-26 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
LOL what? Rich people can't have exhibition kink? The only people who'd do it semi-public places are poor to afford a bed? That's like questioning why a couple would have sex in a car when they have a house.

(Anonymous) 2022-03-26 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you actually read the secret? It wasn't about the location being too public or exposed, it was about it being too physically uncomfortable.

(Anonymous) 2022-03-26 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
The kink IS the reason they do it, despite it being uncomfortable. It doesn't specifically have to do with exhibitionism, it's just whatever gets you hot. That's why people do it on the floor even though carpet burns are the worst and the bed is maybe five feet away.

Tell me you don't get laid without telling me you don't get laid some more.

(Anonymous) 2022-03-26 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Well that's rude. Been laid a whole bunch of times but don't find bruising sexy thanks.

(Anonymous) 2022-03-28 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a grown ass woman with a kid, so you know I had sex at least once, but I looked at that stairwell scene and my first thought wasn't "hot", it was "that looks uncomfortable". But I have chronic back pain, so that's probably why lol

(Anonymous) 2022-03-28 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Not literally in a stairway but I've gotten carpet burns from doing sexual things in maybe less than optimal places, so, you know, I am not going to fault them for the concrete bruises.
