Weekend Plans?

What is everyone doing this weekend?

I'll be playing video games with my sisters as usual. I also want to get some spring cleaning done but we'll see how that goes.

Seeing the stepmother as abusive, let alone OTT abusive, is a total failure to comprehend anything about the movie's messages. Other characters repeatedly tell Sarah flat out that she's being ridiculous to think her life is unfair, and they're right.

Honestly, Rey being overpowered is partly why I stopped watching after TFA. I suppose it might have been explained in the sequels, but it doesn't sound like the writing was great there either.

That's a good point. I can think of other Austen heroines who'd be more fun, but I've always liked Anne and she'd be a very good, loyal friend who's level headed and sensible. I could use a friend like that.

The romance plot sounded pretty dumb, TBH. Is it worth watching for the sex scenes and humor, or should I just skip it?

Back in the day, this fandom had a wide age range and I figured some of the younger fans were viewing it from Sarah's POV... not quite unreliable narrator because she wasn't narrating the story, but similar? I could understand sympathizing with her rather me vs. meanie butt parents outlook if you're a kid, but the older I got the more I realized that no, Sarah was totally being an unreasonable brat. I appreciate her emotional development over the course of the film more as an adult now.

You know the thing which bugs me about Homer's The Odyssey? Odysseus's dog was still waiting for him when he got home. He'd been gone for ten years of the Trojan War, plus ten years of Odyssey-ing bouncing around the Med, plus whatever the travel and logistics time was gearing up for the Trojan War, just how the fuck old was that dog? How do I get a pupper that lives for nigh on thirty years?
