Oh, I was waiting for predictable troll to show up and predictably troll.

I hate bad writing, especially the kind that props up a character who hasn't earned their place, instead of giving them understandable motives or true character development. I don't give a shit what their gender is.

Not that I have an obligation to tell you my opinions on Captain Marvel, but I had no issues with the movie or the character. But I also admit that I didn't have previous material to compare either one to (not having read the comics), so maybe some writing decisions didn't seem that off to me.

I don't think it's really fair to hold such an old movie to today's standards of storytelling, but okay. You clearly want to make this point that no one can dislike Rey for perfectly valid reasons, it's all incel neck beards, or internalized misogyny, depending on your gender.

Why? The type of storytelling in the original trilogy, at least as far as character writing isn’t that different from today’s standard of storytelling. This isn’t like trying to hold movies from the Golden Age of Hollywood to today’s standards. This is pointing out that the way Luke and Rey are written are similar, but people on get angry at Rey, despite Luke having the same sins. It’s fine if someone doesn’t like Rey, but it’s hypocritical to not hold Luke to the same standards. The original trilogy being old(because the late 70s-early 80s are ancient apparently) has nothing to do with this.

This is a bad take, based on some very flimsy logic. And it’s also very misinformed. You accuse ayrt of trying to make a point that’s very disingenuous and overly broad, but you’re the one actually doing that.
