Yeah, Anne would probably be my top pick as well. I think Elinor would be second.

Austen honestly didn't write a single dud protagonist, though some were certainly more readily likeable than others. Emma is actually one of my favorite Austen protags, specifically because she had maybe the most pronounced character arc of the bunch. Not sure I'd be up to being her friend, though.
