Mental Support

(Anonymous) 2022-03-27 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
My cat is having dental surgery (2 of his molars are rotten and are getting removed) tomorrow and i am very nervous. His last big thing was getting rid of his balls when he was a kitten, and he hasnt needed anything with anaesthesia ever since (he's 12 years now).
His bloodwork, weight and general exam looked well so there isnt any concern except his age.

I'm sorry for your precious kitty. I will keep him and you in my thoughts. I am sure it will go fine. And you will be there when it is done to spoil and love him. He knows that his human will take care of him.

Thank you so much for your kind words.
Currently he is very cross with me bc he needs to fast before his surgery. He is Very Hungry, Right Now.

Cats are very good at letting us know when they are unhappy at us.

Sending good thoughts to you and your cat.

My dog had a bunch of teeth removed this summer. I was so scared for him, but he did great. And I'm sure your cat will do great too and feel much better <3

I get a little nervous about taking my cats to the vet even for routine checkups, so I feel for you. He sounds well-taken-care-of, though. I hope everything goes well!

My cat is 16 and he had dental surgery last year. It was perfectly OK! I really feel you being nervous, but I am sure it will be alright

Petty RP complaint

(Anonymous) 2022-03-27 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
My DM chose a faceclaim for the love interest of my character that I can't stand, the person in the picture looks like a wax figure or a render. They have a moderately important role in the story too, so it's not like "love interest" is all there is to them or I would feel justified in asking them to take one I suggest. As it is I'm afraid I'd come across as super shallow and maybe worse, insult her taste. It's not that big a deal I know, I know! But it's nagging at me so I had to complain somewhere at least. It's hard to daydream about fictional romances in this scenario...

Part of the DM's job is making sure their players are having fun, if you are not having fun then they need to know. Because if it bugs you then you'll find yourself not giving the game your full attention or participation, that impacts everyone else, someone will start finding reasons (or stop finding reasons to not) not to come into sessions, and the whole game falls apart. Ideally they should bring this sort of stuff up at a session zero, and you can have a discussion then, but it is never too late to say "hey, this isn't working for me". If your GM cannot cope with that, they ought not to be running a game to start with.

Coworkers being...meh

[personal profile] tabaqui 2022-03-28 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Got home an hour or so ago from a surprise!24 hour shift when the day-shift person texted half an hour before day shift starts to say her babysitter couldn't make it and her husband was in Oklahoma and she had to wait for him to come home before she could relieve me.

She apparently knew about the babysitter the night before, but didn't bother to text/call the program manager or the director, just...texted one other employee to see if they would take her shift (they could not).

Since i was the only person at the shelter, I could not leave in those 24 hours, and got pretty hungry and pretty zoned.

I had a chicken sandwich and some chocolate and a hot shower and am about to go to bed, and the overtime will be sweet. But it was really uncool of her.

What the fuck, that's incredibly shitty and uncool of her. And tbh I think I would definitely want to talk to the program manager or the director about how to prevent it from happening again, because that just sounds like a really crappy situation.

It sucked and was unfun, but we are chronically short-staffed; hire people only to have them quit in a week, or never show up for training.... I dunno what the issue is. The work is not HARD, though the pay could be better....who knows.

It did not help that the PM was out of state (she normally would have come in to cover), or that another of our staff is laid up with a bum shoulder, having dislocated it a few days ago and now needing surgery.....

1. What the fuck.
2. How is 24 hours legal?
3. Why was the manager/people in charge not finding a replacement and/or coming in to cover?
4. Get some sleep! *hugs*

Yeah, I'd have phoned my manager and had them come in because I'd be leaving at the end of my shift and good luck to them. If they chose to run that understaffed, then that is on them and not me. I wonder if coworker's contract said they had to phone in no earlier than one hour ahead of shift if they were going to miss it too, a lot of places have that in staff contracts to try and stamp out what they see as casual absences taken by calling in ahead of time. It is stupid, but it is in some management book or course somewhere, so...

There's no way I was doing that - we have women in shelter, and kids, and someone has to be there. I didn't enjoy it and don't ever want to do it again, but it had to be done.

I don't know why we are always so short of staff. People get hired, work a week and quit, or never show up for training, or do something horrifically inappropriate with the clients..... It is *not* hard work! The pay could be better, but for this area isn't bad.... Meh. PM was pretty tee'd off about co-worker not advising anyone sooner, and would have been there if she'd known, but was out of state when it all went down. I dunno what the Ex. Director's excuse was - she was ignoring everyone, but then...she's one of *those* 'Xians', so i'm not surprised.

Well, Program Manager was out of state at the time; she would normally have come in if co-worker had told her ahead of time like she was supposed to. Ex. Director was ignoring everyone, but she's one of *those* 'Xians', and it was not a surprise.
I hate that we're always so understaffed and people quit after a week or just never show up for training...it is not hard work!
Thanks! I did. :D
