Officially: cats and dogs cannot be autistic.
Unofficially: dogs can absolutely be autistic. Cats are unknown because cat behaviour research is nearly nonexistent. (But also: most likely)
I’m not an animal behaviouralist yet but I’m working on my degree and getting involved with cat behaviour research because I’m fascinated that so little exists and how WRONG people have been about interpreting cats for so long.

Genuine question: how do you know when animal behaviour research is wrong? How do you draw any conclusions about animal behaviour at all? It seems so nebulous to me.
