Bruce Willis retiring from acting due to aphasia.

THAT one really surprised me. All the friends I've talked to about it have been like, "Oh, the rumors that he was sick were true," and I've been like, "What rumors???" But that's saddening. I wouldn't say he was my favorite actor of all time, but damn if I didn't love his work in Die Hard and Death Becomes Her.

I really liked him in The Fifth Element.

I think there were rumors of an actor that couldn't remember lines and had to rely on cue cards. I remember Bruce's name being one of several hints.

Worse than cue cards, they were feeding him lines through an earpiece ever since Glass because he could no longer read or remember lines. It is dementia that he has, the aphasia is just the symptom but it means even feeding him lines to repeat will no longer work. It is the same thing Terry Jones had.

It is sad. I've liked quite a few things he's been in - Moonlighting, Die Hard, Die Hard 2: Die Harder, Live Free or Die Hard, The Fifth Element, Death Becomes Her, The Sixth Sense, Look Who's Talking, Pulp Fiction, 12 Monkeys, and RED

I love all of those too, so I feel you!

It's very sad news for him from a human point of view, I'm sorry for him and his family having to deal with this, and I hope that things progress well for him physically as much as possible. You would never wish that to happen to anyone.

But everyone has been out here all day talking about how great an actor he is. And it's really annoying because I can't stand him as an actor. He makes every movie he's in worse. One of those performers I've never been able to stand.

It’s fine if you don’t like him, as an actor or otherwise. But it’s excessive to get so annoyed that other people think he’s a good actor. Or people who might think opposite of you in believing he’s an actor who enhances movies and shows he’s been in with his presence. Especially because these are people who are already sad for him and his family, and are saying so. And that annoys you because you don’t agree that he’s a good actor?

Like, I disagree with several people who think so and so’s a good actor or singer etc., but it wouldn’t annoy me if I saw people saying they were after they were forced to retire due to dementia or something else devastating. So I really don’t get how this gets under your skin so much. And the first sentence of where said this is “sad from a human point of view” could have been phrased better, but the rest of that paragraph was good.

And inB4 “wow you’re so judgmental and sanctimonious”, I legitimately just don’t understand still feeling this amount of annoyance at something as simple as a difference of opinion from other people. If that makes me sanctimonious and judgmental, I guess I’ll work on that? And I do believe you that you’re truly sorry for him and his family despite not liking his acting, and that you wouldn’t wish this in anyone. Because I have no reason to believe you’re lying about that. Someone who truly hated a celebrity as a person wouldn’t pretend to care about something happening to them. You see callous people like that all the time. And you’re not one of them.
