Everytime I read/watch something that has characters shift into an animal and they go hunting in a forest, I can't help but think of all the parasites you'd get from eating raw animals/being in a forested area.

I know it's not suppose to be realistic but once you learn how easy and normal it is for wild animals to have some sort of parasitic gutload it's hard not to feel a little grossed out. :(

I just assume that werewolf magic includes something that deals with parasites

I'm currently writing a stupid book about werewolves. I might have them all take Interceptor to avoid parasites lol

Ivermectin (snerk.)

"Oh no, you're one of those antivaxers, aren't you?"

"No? I'm up to date on everything; rabies, parvo, kennel cough..."

... "Those are dog diseases."

"Uh, I'm just really thorough?"

Along with the werewolf magic, I always wondered about the digestion -- and I always figured

A) the biology magic going on means their internal mechanics will likely kill anything that would get them sick (i.e. temp is too damn high, stomach acid is so acidic it completely destroys the parasite, etc.)
B) The parasites don't affect them, as their biology is somehow immune to them
C) when you shift back you vomit everything up before your body can digest and allow (magically) the parasite to enter the system

C I kind of took from Being Human, which actually played with lycanthropy as this thing (which is also from other werewolf media) as something debilitating to the human body. Like your actual body ages faster -- the werewolf on BH was kind of running on a limited scope of time. Of course, other werewolf/shifter media usually has it as "the human body was also strong, strapping and robust". So I always figured the vomiting up all the shit you ate last night (like a dog) while your body ages and decreases your lifespan (so werewolf life as a disease) was an interesting take.

I can't even watch human characters frolicking about on a beautiful meadow without thinking about all the ticks they'll have when they're done.

I can't even look at pictures on Pinterest of women in dresses walking through long grass without wincing.

Or frolicking through a forest. I also wonder about things like West Nile and Spotted Fever.
