With you on Gibbs so much. Hate him. Not big on Sheppard either, though I dislike McKay more.

I'd like to argue, though, that Steve is nothing at all like Gibbs and that comparison is an insult.

I mean, there's a general thread of 'loose cannon military main lead that the canon thinks is always right'. Personality-wise they're a bit different, but in terms of role and presentation, there's a similarity.

This. Nobody was saying Gibbs and Steve have the same gruff personality. It’s all about being military men and how the canon treats them that makes them similar enough to piss us off.

Nah. They're both very much the military cowboy type that straight up ignores any rules or boundaries they don't like, and are treated by the narrative like they're right for doing so. Which can make them incredibly frustrating characters to watch, especially for viewers who aren't American.
