Re: Who is your least favorite film director

This is kind of weird but maybe...George Lucas? Like, in terms of movies of his where he directed it and I legitimately enjoyed the movie? Like..."Star Wars" is a good movie but I don't recall watching it a lot. I watched "Empire Strikes Back" a whole lot more and he didn't direct that one. I've never watched "American Graffiti". The Star Wars prequels weren't very good, although I like "Revenge of the Sith". I just can't say I hate him as a director or dislike him. He's done so much for cinema with "Star Wars" and I learned a lot about cinema and art in general by watching BTS stuff on Star Wars stuff and even just video essays about Star Wars/George Lucas. LOL And there's a lot I enjoy with all of his films even if the films overall aren't the best.

I can agree about Michael Bay. Every time I went to go watch a Michael Bay movie in theatres it felt like someone held me hostage to watch it with them. My dad took me to go watch "The Rock" I was a kid so I don't remember much. My sister and cousins forced me to go watch "Armageddon" where they all cried and I stared at them like, "This fucking film is such a fucking emotional manipulation. I'm not going to fucking cry because Ben Affleck gets to live, fuck this movie." My friends and I watched "Pearl Harbor" and I only liked it because Josh Hartnett was hot in it. I don't know if I could watch it again now. Any of his other movies I've only seen snippets of, but I recall not liking "Transformers" when I saw parts of it on TNT.

Rob Cohen is the "his movies are shit but you know...they're enjoyable trash when you're in the mood for them (some of them)" director in my life. "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story", "DragonHeart", "Daylight", "The Rat Pack", "The Skulls", "The Fast and the Furios", "xXx", "Stealth", "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" (AKA the worst Mummy movie with Brendan Fraiser), "Alex Cross" and "The Boy Next Door".

Quentin Tarantino is one of those directors whose films I can enjoy but I never found his movies as amazing or cool or whatever as much as everyone else. I always thought I maybe I wasn't getting it, but now that I'm older maybe it's because I grew up on martial arts movies and exploitation films too and so his movies were just among other movies. I didn't see how "new and interesting" it was for him to dress up exploitation and martial arts movies. Like, yeah that's cool I guess but you know, Jackie Chan's still cooler because he actually did his stunts. Bruce Lee did it first and did it better. QT's just imitating. He's just another white guy appropriating other people's hard work and culture, and then acts like his POV is the authority on everything he's into. Embarrassing, aging and overrated.

Oh man, John Woo! He hasn't made a good film since "Hard Boiled". I'll give him..."Face/Off" is a lot of fun.
