You've yet to discover the rule of cringe, I see.

Cringe or not depends on how seriously someone is taking something. The more seriously they take it the more cringe it becomes.

Taking something stupid deathly seriously = cringe

Doing something silly for fun with full acknowledgement it's silly and laughing at yourself = fine and cool usually

Doing something silly and super seriously trying to be funny and cool and not realizing people are laughing at you and not with you = cringe

What you say is true but it's also just a hell of a title for a mystery novel. It's a good enough title that it doesn't matter if it's the most accurate thing in the world.

I don't think it's a contradiction. You don't think songs in fic convey drama or romance but you do think they convey silliness and humor. Perfectly reasonable.

Not the ones who wrote the Bible, she isn't slutty in the Bible. It was the ones who came after that decided she must have been slutty because slutty is the worst thing for a woman to be, and Jezebel was evil and the worst woman ever, so of course she must have been slutty.

Being a slut and a harlot is just the easiest and most convenient way for men to blacken a woman's name and reputation - and that's still true today. All the other stuff you describe has been done by men plenty of times. But calling her a painted whore is the attack that will stick. :(

You didn't ask for my opinion, but I'd say "people hating on a movie in a way that shows they've never seen it." Someone nitpicking a movie in a way that shows they've seen it a million times is annoying but more forgivable than ignorance. If you're gonna come into my house and criticize my couch, at least know what color it is.

I don't have the physical CD anymore, but I still listen to songs off this album all the time! It's so good (or maybe it's just because I was 12 when it came out). :D

Basically, because she was an evil woman, of course she had to be slutty. Slutty was the evilest a woman could be, so the evilest of women had to be slutty. So men just assumed she had to be slutty even though she doesn't appear to have been, at least from the passages written about her.
