I'm a 31-year-old virgin, so I'm biased, but I'm not sure why having a mild crush on one of the writers is so pathetic. I have crushes on celebrities or other people outside of my orbit sometimes, and it's never gonna happen with those specific people, but it's fun to entertain myself while I'm working on meeting people in real life.
