5. ...Wow. I love that game too, but for the love of God, don't quit school for it. That's just like becoming addicted to drugs - don't let a silly little (read: magnificantly fantastic ♥) video game prevent you from being able to function in society.

It's like shaking the hell out of a can of Pepsi, setting it back down on the table and then moving back to watch the poor fool who opens it. Always good to just sit back and watch the fun. X3

Onimusha comes to mind. Not that shitty Dawn of Dorks, I mean the real ones - Warlords, Samurai's Destiny and Demon Siege. The fandom is so quiet.

For the rest of my life, I will think of Jean Reno as the magic Frenchman in Demon Siege.

1. HEY IT'S MY HOBBY TOO, LET'S BE LOSES TOGETHER ♥ whoever you are

5. ... That's really, really sad. I don't mean to be insulting or anything, but it's a video game. Don't let it become your whole life.

11. OBLIGITORY "TELL HER FOR THE LOVE OF GOD" COMMENT GOES HERE.

15. Oh, me too. It's like I really don't know how to reply to such the nice things people say, unless I know them and can kid around about shit. Haha.

i sort of understand where you're coming from. fandom can really, really suck you in.

3. Yeah, and one thing I love about secret communities is watching arrogant people act superior to others and pretend they're incredibly mature just because they don't seem to have anything they're passionate enough about to defend. :P

3. It's sad no one can be passionate about something without getting lol'ed at for it. But then again, there's a fine line between passionate and obsessed. :C

12. ... XD

13. So? D: Just post~
hughes: (:()

[personal profile] hughes 2007-03-26 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Sometimes I wonder... but I feel like I have more productive hobbies-in-hobby, like practicing writing and drawing through fanfiction and artwork, and I've met a ton of awesome people through my, er... obsessions. XD; So really... fandom is what you make of it. <3

2. Hey, I certainly don't judge my self-worth as an artist on my pageviews, but it doesn't hurt to use it as a self-esteem boost. It's nice to know your art has piqued enough interest from people that they want to check your page. After all, it's easy for you to say it's unimportant, given that you have 22,000+ when most of us are lucky to even get a couple of thousand. :/ (Unless that isn't your page... XD;)

3. Egh. It kind of annoys me that on the internet, when anyone tries to defend themselves or something they love, it's automatically labeled as "wank." :/ It's as if the person who makes the first attack against someone or something is automatically on higher moral ground, and the insulted party is supposed to sit there and take it, which.... just doesn't make sense in my opinion.

5. Sometimes I worry that fandom in general has taken over my life in less direct ways, so I can empathize with you but also urge you to get back in school and rekindle your friendship. :/ Fandom is great until you realize everything else has passed you by.

14. For me, the issue is that most het pairings really aren't interesting or well-developed enough to intrigue me. Of course, the same is true for me in regards to most canon-yaoi-based fandoms too; I lost all interest in Gravitation when I found it was all pretty with no psychology. What intrigues me most about slash is the inner conflict. <3 (Plus, like I was saying to a friend last night: It seems that according to many creators for many mainstream fandoms, two male characters have to know each other for a long time to have a believable friendship, whereas a female character can automatically be considered compatible with a male character by simply being female. Thus, the relationship between the two males intrigues me way more than the half-development in the het relationship, and in the female character's personality.

Of course, there are exceptions to that rule too, and it does annoy me when people pair guys for the sake of omghotyaoi instead of omghotRELATIONSHIP.

...::Shuts up now.::

Oh, and 15: I totally know how you feel. ._. Sometimes I put off responding because of... I don't even know why, and then I forget to comment and feel terrible a long time afterwards. T_T;

I'm scared to join that fandom for that reason alone. I love the game, but I don't want to be controlled completely by it.

I stated this many in the times in the past, but I'm going to join the fandom when the next big Tales of . . . game hits the states.

10. You got married?!
14. I think that's actually mainly because Yuiko was annoying. Or at least, she annoyed the hell outta me. ...Soubi was way cooler. >_> I mean, if Soubi was annoying and Yuiko was awesome, I'd support Ri/Yu.
15. Me too! But then I started commenting and it got fun. =D

[identity profile] dots.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
15 is pretty much how I feel, sigh.

[identity profile] hako-neko.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
2. Stats just point out how active you are in the community. My bestfriend is a billion times better than me, and she has like 1/5 of my pageviews.

4. Neopets is stupid. It's nothing special. I know how you feel. D:

14. It annoys me especially when these types of yaoi*fanatics rant and rave how the lead girl in the canon pairing should be "killed" so their buttsecks*love can be the OTP. D: Guh... get over it, fangirls.

2.

(Anonymous) 2007-03-27 01:38 am (UTC)(link)

Yeah, exactly. It all depends on how active you are and yet some people will sell their soul for more pageviews and cry and lament over how they suck because they don't have 900,000 pageviews.

[identity profile] demyx.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
5. ... damn. XD I don't even love Kingdom Hearts that much.

8. YES. ♥

13. Well, that happens when you insult someone. XD Whether it's true or not, they'll be offended. I mean, you can go ahead, but it's kind of naive to think that no one will retaliate. :| people don't sit well to being told they suck?

[identity profile] stormbringer986.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
6. Yes! That is one of the worst things ever, no matter how awesome the fandom is. You're all like "Yay new fandom!" but then you realize it's so old it's pretty much dead (if it even had much of a fandom to begin with) and there's nothing to be found fic or art wise. And good luck finding other fans, since the fandom is the size of an ant.

14. That is the most annoying thing ever. Sure, there are non-canon yaoi pairings that I like, and canon female love interests that I can't stand, but there has to be a limit. "OMG ALL FEMALE LOVE INTERESTS SHOULD DIE SO EVERYTHING IS YAOI" is a really stupid way to look at things. Just because two characters were on the same page together doesn't make them soulmates.

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 01:35 am (UTC)(link)

1. I think that's true of a lot of us. Most of my hobbies are fandom related.

4. I used to play Neopets back in the day and I have no idea how anyone could become so obsessed with it. Get a real pet who will return your love.

11. I'd suggest telling her.

13. Case, lol?

14. It's true.

15. I know, right? I don't want to reply with 'thank you' but unless someone leaves a comment I can really reply to, I have no idea what to say. I always figured, 'thank you' went without saying.

[identity profile] vriska.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
5. Hee. XD I can sympathize (though I haven't ever outright quit school because of a game, I have skipped once or twice for the sake of playing). It's a really fun game to me, and not even just because of the cracky fandom. ...you should add me, if I'm not already friends with you. ;3

15. I know how you feel a lot of the time D: I feel somewhat guilty when people talk about artists who don't respond to comments, but... really, half the time, unless I have something specific in the comment to respond to... it really is just a "thank you", and it feels weird to say it so many times. I'm sure they know that we love them, though ♥

[identity profile] liltigre.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
2) I tend to go 'wtf' a lot at my own pageviews. It's something of a "hey, I can entertain people! :D" sort of thing.

5) .... what is it?

6) That was how I felt when I first got into the online FFVII fandom... because my interest was rekindled by watching people play Dirge of Cerberus when it first came out in Japan, and I kinda became an overnight Reeve/Vincent fan. *dies* And there was, like, NOTHING out there on that pairing outside of two AU fics Merc had done. I lived off writing bad fanfic and prowling Japanese fansites until after the game came out in the states. XD

7) I think everyone has at least one OC they feel that way about. I have... several. :3

11) How close of friends are you? It's kind of a scary prospect to broach something like that in a friendship, but if your friend is a good one, she'd understand, I'd think.

15. Pardon the lame and useless response, but WORD. If someone gives me critique, even, it's kind of awkward replying because either I come off as totally "omfg you're so right I worship you!!!" or as kind of defensive.
