2. Hey, I certainly don't judge my self-worth as an artist on my pageviews, but it doesn't hurt to use it as a self-esteem boost. It's nice to know your art has piqued enough interest from people that they want to check your page. After all, it's easy for you to say it's unimportant, given that you have 22,000+ when most of us are lucky to even get a couple of thousand. :/ (Unless that isn't your page... XD;)
3. Egh. It kind of annoys me that on the internet, when anyone tries to defend themselves or something they love, it's automatically labeled as "wank." :/ It's as if the person who makes the first attack against someone or something is automatically on higher moral ground, and the insulted party is supposed to sit there and take it, which.... just doesn't make sense in my opinion.
5. Sometimes I worry that fandom in general has taken over my life in less direct ways, so I can empathize with you but also urge you to get back in school and rekindle your friendship. :/ Fandom is great until you realize everything else has passed you by.
14. For me, the issue is that most het pairings really aren't interesting or well-developed enough to intrigue me. Of course, the same is true for me in regards to most canon-yaoi-based fandoms too; I lost all interest in Gravitation when I found it was all pretty with no psychology. What intrigues me most about slash is the inner conflict. <3 (Plus, like I was saying to a friend last night: It seems that according to many creators for many mainstream fandoms, two male characters have to know each other for a long time to have a believable friendship, whereas a female character can automatically be considered compatible with a male character by simply being female. Thus, the relationship between the two males intrigues me way more than the half-development in the het relationship, and in the female character's personality.
Of course, there are exceptions to that rule too, and it does annoy me when people pair guys for the sake of omghotyaoi instead of omghotRELATIONSHIP.

WORD. Like, I could totally elaborate, but I think you pretty much summed it all up for me. xD;; I don't really like slash for the omghotbuttsecks, but, rather, I enjoy the dynamic presented by two male characters who are just themselves and not reduced to the typical Boy/Girl roles a lot of het pairings shove characters into. If that makes any sense. ;;

And YES. YAOI = MALE ON MALE, NOT GIRL WITH DICK ON MALE. I dunno if that's what you mean, but. XD; Yeah, like... the dynamic. Guh, the dynamic. And the really sad thing is that in series where yaoi does become canon, it usually just doesn't... have that dynamic. Maybe it's either because it kind of cheapens the experience when you know a series has been created for the sole purpose of yaoi, or yeah, maybe it's because they are forced into those typical Boy/Girl roles that are just so... boring after a while. :[ (Plus, they never seem to address the fact that a guy would most likely have issues with wanting to be with another guy [ESPECIALLY A BEST FRIEND 8D] instead of being totally okay with it.)

AND AMEN. Maybe that's why I tend to not like many canon pairings, whether it's yaoi or not. Sometimes I get the feeling that romantic relationships are just kind of slapped in there to appeal to an audience wanting some sort of love story. But I find the best kinds of love stories are often the ones that aren't screaming "HAY LOOK AT ME I'M A LOVE STORY LOLOL."
And, yeah, those typical Boy/Girl roles are really boring after a point, and not at all that realistic. It's one reason why I get kind of bothered by the whole seme/uke distinction in the yaoi fandom. It's really frustrating to find pairings I like, and then turn around and see authors portray one half as this really buff, manly guy, and the other as this meek, submissive, pure sissy. Especially when it doesn't really reflect how they are together in canon, and it's done solely for the sake of pushing the characters into those roles often found in yaoi (and het, too).
And you're totally right. Realistically, most people would have issues with putting an important relationship through that kind of change. Especially if it was with another guy. MOAR INNER CONFLICT = YAY.
