"I wanted to suggest that there could be a separate comment thread for each secret, but someone already suggested it and there was a concern about loading times.

I would rather bear the longer loading times for separate comment threads for each secret than painstakingly search for responses to specific secrets on each page of comments (and then going back to look if anyone's responded since last check).

There are other benefits as well:
- Questions about a specific secret (Eg. What episode is this secret from?) can be answered once for everyone without being repeatedly asked and answered over the course of 10+ pages.
- It could encourage people to comment on a secret that doesn't have any comments yet.
- It would save the Ctrl and F buttons of keyboards everywhere.

Maybe something like 1-25, 26-50, etc, and a thread for "what's that from?"

That would make it lag harder? Wouldn't it be better than having to slog through every single page? Or do you mean it would force everything onto the first page?

And "name the fandom" is for offering information. "what's that from" would be seeking it. Even people who know may not offer unless they see that someone's specifically looking.

Ever tried to load the first page of an anon meme? All the comments on the page, even collapsed, make it load really slowly. With 25 comment topics allowed per page, that's collapsing about 200+ comments onto one page. Actually probably more like 400, since people post comments to more than one secret at a time and would have to post separately using this system.

People request fandom identification in that thread all the time. That's what it's for.

That's odd considering I usually see very few replies in that thread, while the rest of the comments are peppered with "what's that from?"

And yeah, I have. It runs faster to do it that way. Unless my computer is in the Trick Room or something. Which actually, the way it's been messing up, I wouldn't doubt for a second.

Well consider this: FS usually has a rate of about 25 secrets a day. Doing it by 25s, or even 5s, would force all 600 comments... onto the first page. Also, once a thread gets enough replies, just hitting the link to it won't display all of it at once. After a certain point, all replies are forcibly collapsed and you've got to click them individually to see them. It's a hassle, trust me on this.

The Name-the-Fandom thread is there if they want to use it. If they don't, that's their problem. A whole separate thread for "what's this from" when there already is a thread that serves the same purpose is pointless

Why *do* they do that? Expand ought to expand EVERYTHING from that point on. Is that a programming glitch?

Not everyone has "expand" to begin with.

The problem with that system would be that it would eliminate one of the main purposes of the one-thread-per-secret idea - namely, reducing the amount of ctrl+f that one has to do. If 25 secrets are clustered in one thread it will be far harder to find the replies that you're actually looking for.

I was thinking that it would narrow it down, and with the numbers in the titles (hopefully) it would narrow the scope, but I forgot that this comm gets over a thousand comments per post sometimes. As I said, 4:30 am and still at work.

Hahaha, yeah, unfortunately to have any hope of sorting this many comments you have to sort very finely. And erk, hope you get off soon!

I mean, it seems to me that most of us comment on several secrets -- not just one. That would mean we'd have to post a bunch of replies to the appropriate threads! How time-consuming (and plain dumb) isn't that?

Let's try it out for a couple days or a week and repoll.
