"I wanted to suggest that there could be a separate comment thread for each secret, but someone already suggested it and there was a concern about loading times.

I would rather bear the longer loading times for separate comment threads for each secret than painstakingly search for responses to specific secrets on each page of comments (and then going back to look if anyone's responded since last check).

There are other benefits as well:
- Questions about a specific secret (Eg. What episode is this secret from?) can be answered once for everyone without being repeatedly asked and answered over the course of 10+ pages.
- It could encourage people to comment on a secret that doesn't have any comments yet.
- It would save the Ctrl and F buttons of keyboards everywhere.

Could there at least be a poll about this suggestion please?"

Noooooooooooooo! That idea makes no sense D:<

I mean, it seems to me that most of us comment on several secrets -- not just one. That would mean we'd have to post a bunch of replies to the appropriate threads! How time-consuming (and plain dumb) isn't that?

THIS! People would have to waste a lot of time, trying to find the sub-threads to post in.

Part of the fun is searching for comments, but I do wish that people would simply list the (often obscure) fandom, episode, title, character names, at the bottom of their damn secret! (as part of the secret image). IMO, fandom!secrets should be about a person's secret desires, not playing "Let's Guess The Obscure Fandom."

Thirded. It's a nice idea, but the time saved in not having to look for specific comments would be lost in posting comments to a bunch of different threads. I bet people who usually comment on many secrets would tone it down if this suggestion becomes regular service.

The chaos in the comments is part of the fun, no need to make everything so organized. :/

"Let's Guess the Obscure Fandom" is a game that frequently pisses me off. XP "Boo hoo, no one is in my fandom!" cries the secret, but I notice you failed to add what fandom it is or how to get at it! Thanks, you elitist cock!

I agree! Half the fun for me is to go and look for the comments I'm looking for on different pages. Is it REALLY that hard to let the page load then hit ctrl + f?
I know some people's connections suck, but if you can load the page in the first place, what's the big deal?

But, but.. It takes waaaaaaaaay longer to search for a comment than to make one. :

[identity profile] bamf-girl.livejournal.com 2009-04-04 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
That's what ctrl+F is for. ;)

They'd be in order, though!

If you're someone who comments on lots of secrets, your point is the more useful one. But if you're someone who comments on just one or two secrets and then has to go through all 12 pages of comments looking for just the one or two secrets you're interested in discussing, this new suggestion is more useful. I'm in the latter camp, but I'm sure there are people like you in the former.

There is something to be said for the joy of chaos, though.
