Hahah yeah, I figured I had to use one of the two. (Cecil/Rosa/Kain from FFIV is the other one...)

See that's the thing, I don't even see it so often as "this is my solution to ship wars", more like "I'm going to take three random characters who are never even all in the same scene in canon and ship them" which strikes me as ... random. But okay, do whatever, I just am not likely to read it unless someone I know has good taste does and tells me "Actually there is a plot with which they made it make sense!"

A lot of couple-shipping has exactly that Bash Two Semi-Random Characters Together vibe. OT3's aren't unique that way.

Yep, I don't tend to read those either. It's just a strange phenomenon I've noticed with OT3 fic, possibly just in my fandoms - people who write couples, the most-written couples are ones that have some kind of basis for them, though there definitely are occasional random things. But then the most-written threesomes are like a hyper-exaggerated version of "pair the spares".

My big OT3 is Alan/Ellie/Ian from Jurassic Park, but Cecil/Rosa/Kain... yeah, I get that. They would work.
