Celebrate minor achievements.

Celebrate the little things which have kept you going this week.

For me, I managed a whole five push ups. I know it isn't much, but it is a huge milestone on my physical rehab. For a while I never dreamed I'd be capable of doing even that again, so it is a huge thing for me.

Share yours here.

OP, five push ups are better than none- which is what I did!
Today I managed to get off of the bus accidentally several stops before my stop, then walked two long blocks past where I was supposed to turn (don't ask me how I fucked that up when I know where I was supposed to go)! This means I actually got some exercise in the form of walking, although I was pretty drained when I got home from the heat (and the walking).
I've been reading more in the past week, which is better than previous years when I read very little for fun.
I got all of my laundry done--and it's only Tuesday.
I've been watching Season 3 of Barry & liking it, and am re-watching Season 3 of Stranger Things in preparation for Season 4's premiere soon (10 more days)!
I managed to get some snacks for myself, including my one vice (Coca Cola).

I made it through the work day and actually got things done in spite of my head hurting so bad my eyes and teeth hurt.

Somehow have ridden 8.7k on the bike I acquired last weekend, since Monday morning. (According to Pokemon Go, which flipped over the weekly distance tracker then, and I hadn't been in my car since last Friday night.)

Usually I have had trouble even hitting the lowest 5k distance goal, but 6.4 of that was Monday apparently. Maybe I'll start hitting the 25k goal regularly.

I drove a car for the first time in like seven years this week. I've had crippling anxiety relating to driving but it's time for me to get over it.

I did laundry. In an attempt to up my protein intake I accidentally keto'd/starved myself for three weeks and didn't notice until I spent all my non-working hours asleep. I have a lot of chores to catch up on.

I took a friend out for lunch who had been going through a hard time lately and I think I cheered him up at least a little.

I woke up at 5Am with a raging sinus headache and that headache has not gone away all day. I'm sick of spring and pollen and Texas heat. My allergies seem much worse here in Dallas than they were in San Antonio.

Ack!!
I know it's not a substitute, but do you have a fan? Can you put it in a shady window? Or just put it on you? And then - damp washcloth in the freezer for a few, then put it on the back of your neck. That always made me feel better.

Stay cool, Anon!

Oof, been there, done that. Hope you get it fixed soon, nonny.

I got up early today to vote in the state primary, then got some coffee and a donut so that I could... go back home to remote work, heh. Felt crappy the rest of the day but it's probably hormones. Still, I hope I get my shit together tomorrow.

ACen's disastrous announcement from yesterday morning has not been rolled back or even explained, so I am among the thousands of furious would-be attendees who has been basically yelling at them (and smug anti-masker/vaxxers in the comments) for 36 hours.

Also the org I work for suffered a ransomware attack sometime late Sunday/early Monday and thus I haven't been able to log in and do any work this week, which is frustrating because my boss was like "uhhhhh log some training time on some of the systems we use?" and I'd rather be doing actual coding and fixing things than watching YouTube tutorials which somehow like to explain really obvious things and not elaborate on the details that are not obvious.

Well it's 4 am and I woke up in a puddle of sweat so my fever broke, yay! I spent Monday night puking until there was nothing but bile to come up, and didn't sleep, called out of work Tuesday, ate an applesauce cup and two tangerine segments all day yesterday and threw those up too, and had a low grade headache and fever the whole time. I only got off the couch to dump the barf bucket and go to the bathroom, and once to run a bath.

My roommate went shopping for me after work and brought me bananas, applesauce, white rice, and gatorade; the gatorade stayed down well enough that I risked an ibuprofen and some banana, and with that and an ice pack I finally got some sleep.

Will test for Covid before going into work later today, but I'm pretty sure it was food poisoning. I'm vaxxed, boosted, and had my flu shot, and don't have any respiratory symptoms. I do have a sore throat now, but it's a "throwing up until I had dry heaves and then throwing up water" sore throat. Just ate the rest of the tangerine and more gatorade.

Summer tv and movies

[personal profile] philstar22 2022-05-18 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
What things are you looking forward to watching this summer?

Super excited that Obi-Wan starts next week. That's the thing I'm most excited about (other than Rings of Power) right now. The other new show I'm really excited about is House of Dragon because dragons.

Cautiously optimistic about Ms. Marvel. And First Kill sounds interesting, so I'll give it a try.

My biggest summer show from last year, Fantasy Island, has been moved to the fall. That's good for the show, but I'm still sad because I was looking forward to it returning this summer.

Movie-wise, looking forward to Jurassic World 3, Thor 4, and Three Thousand Years of Longing.

Volume 2 of Stranger Things S4.
(Here's hoping Volume 1 is good. (I'm tiring of all these new characters they add, I just want to keep up with all the OG's plots/stories.)

Knives Out 2! Crossing my fingers that cases around here stay down so I feel okay going to see it in a movie theater.

And on TV, The Boys Season 3. Can't wait to see what the fallout from the villain reveal last season is.

Movies: Thor 4, obviously. I'm also looking forward to I Love My Dad (got good buzz at SXSW, seems like the EXACT kind of painfully honest cringe comedy with heart I love) and Bodies Bodies Bodies (I heard that it's better than the trailers make it out to be from some people who saw it at film fests, and I like the premise).

TV: Mostly just pumped about WWDITS getting a s4 premiere date! I'm also looking forward to For All Mankind s3 and the Apple TV miniseries about the Sex Pistols.

There are also a couple of sci fi books coming out this summer that I'm looking forward to, especially "Drunk on All Your Strange New Words" by Eddie Robson, which comes out in June.
