I don't know who he is, but I'm incredibly interested. Any fic or Extended Universe works you recommend I check out?

different anon but another Thrawn fan chiming in--

depends on how much background you have in Star Wars-- if you don't have any and you want a tight Thrawn focus, then I'd suggest the post-Disney Expanded Universe Thrawn novels, all by Timothy Zahn (who originally created him back in the early 1990s): Thrawn (2017), Thrawn: Alliances (2018), and Thrawn: Treason (2019). It covers his current canon introduction into the Empire and his career until he leaves it.

If you don't want to commit to whole-ass novels, Marvel did a 6-issue adaptation of the first novel in 2018: https://www.marvel.com/comics/series/23973/star_wars_thrawn_2018

The only Legends thing I would recommend would be the short story "Mist Encounter" but since it got rewritten almost word for word into the first chapter or two of the above Thrawn novel and comic adaptation, it wouldn't add anything new.

He's also a major antagonist in the animated series Star Wars: Rebels. And he is bad-ass.

(not OP)

The creator of Thrawn is Timothy Zahn. (He also created Mara Jade) Zahn in the early 90s wrote the Thrawn Trilogy, and then later wrote the Thrawn Duology (set like 19 years after Endor.) He also created the Katana Fleet which is another really cool, um bit of lore in Star Wars.

Heir to The Empire, Dark Force Rising, and Last Command

Then: Spectre of the Past and Vision of the Future.

Most of the rest of his stuff I know about is in Clone Wars, and they might be using him in the new EU. (maybe OP can help there.)

I recommend starting with Heir to the Empire, which is part the classic Thrawn Trilogy. It basically kick-started the EU.

Thanks guys!
