I dunno I think they may actually go that way. I found The Batman extremely funny/campy. Penguin waddled. People kept insulting Bruce to his face, while he visibly started sweating under his mask. There was a thumb drive! Bruce said the equivalent of the "you're not my dad" teenage yell and almost naruto ran away. He's 30.

Augh! I cannot agree more like I tell you! I've been rereading the Golden Age Batman and all the other Golden Age Heroes! (other than superman) And it been pretty much the most fun I've had all week. Like it kills me how they not only ruined them and even all the Silver Age heroes in the comics years on, but that they pretty much piss all over any ounce of accuracy or watchability with the way they've been handling the DCU lately!!

Maybe don't start with their first book? I mean, if you hear about an author that you might like, try one of their later books first, so you can get an idea of where they're going, and *then* go back to the first?

Even if it's a series, I can get why you mightn't want to do that then, it might still work better. I have a similar problem with tv shows, the first series is always the best if you're starting from the first series, because you can see all the potential ways for it to go, so that by the time the show starts making decisions later on and going down certain paths, it's not necessarily the way you *want* them to go. So if you start later on, while it might take you a bit more effort to catch up with the premise and what's going on, you don't quite have that sense of 'I started with this when it was fresh and now I don't like where it's going', because you started late enough that it was already heading down the path and you knew that when you started.
