I definitely see where you're coming from, but I actually think the operatic notes are more about The Batman's influences rather than a sincere tone in of itself. Like, while the diary narration is from year 1 comics, what the movie actually seems to model cinematically is Watchmen, which did do "operatic", but The Batman is playfully mocking of that sort of melodrama. To me, it's clearly an exaggeration of the "realistic," "grimdark" batman/superhero pastiche sometimes to the point of absurdity, but like an in-joke, rather than a true satire. That's camp imo. I think it could be more camp though!

That's interesting! I didn't really get any of that camp or playfulness from it. But maybe I should give it another watch.

I haven't even seen the movie, but judging by the track listings for the OST, either the composer or whoever named the individual pieces was aiming for camp, or at least ridiculous.

Is Giacchino the one who comes up with punny titles for all his soundtracks, or is that someone else?
