(Anonymous) 2022-05-26 03:01 am (UTC)(link)And honestly, there's nothing wrong with being happy with/proud of your appearance, for that matter-- kids take in so much toxic messaging about how our bodies aren't good enough, how we need fixing, how there's 'good' and 'bad' hair... like, there SHOULD be protagonists who love how they look, especially when how they look is different from their peers.

eta: it's also very good for children to learn that if people only like them for their looks, and they never respond in kind, people are going to stop liking them. Liking a person's looks doesn't last past first anger.
