It's not that warnings were needed, it's that advertising rules got stronger in the internet era. So just like that Instagram celeb has to put "product placement" on their paid video, so does the $100 million movie.

I can sort of understand that reasoning although people know that you can't make a $100 million movie without money from companies/sponsers. Any product placement in a movie/TV show is already acknowledged. That's what the credits are for.
