The only Jedi who was right about Anakin was Yoda, and he was firmly on team Oh Hell, No. Shoulda listened to Yoda.

I think Anakin could have been taught, but not by the Jedi Order as it was at that time. An earlier Jedi order, sure. But he had to be taught how to deal with attachments and how to love without giving in to the dark side when he lost someone. The Jedi Order of the prequel era simply didn't know how to do that, they'd completely given up attachments and didn't understand at all how to live with them.

The only person who could teach him was who did teach him, specifically Palpatine. Anakin was just Born Bad.

I don't believe that. And considering he turned back to the light in the end, that certainly isn't canon.

But did he? His big turn was getting all possessive about his son, and deciding that Palpatine didn't get to kill what was his. Even that turn was tainted by Anakin's inner darkness and jealousy.

I think your interpretation of that scene is really wrong. I think Anakin saw his son standing up to Palpatine, but also understanding that Palpatine would never be defeated through violence and so throwing down his weapon and standing in the light. And refusing to kill him when Luke had every reason to want to do so. It reminded him of the others who had believed in him. It allowed him to find his own inner strength to save his son.

If he was doing it for selfish reasons, then he wouldn't have been willing to die to save his son.

I always wondered if Anakin might have been better off with one of the corps. Allowed to pilot and tinker with mechanics of the explorer sect to his hearts content.

Hmmm. But he was always going to be strong in the Force. Without learning to control his abilities he could have gone dark on his own.

Honestly, I think the Jedi Order the way it was by the prequel era was just destined to fall. It was too cracked on the inside. Anakin was the one who did it in the end, but it would have been someone else if not him.

Probably Mace Windu, since he was just a little too eager to do a coup and some extrajudicial killing. The only reason Mace wouldn't have become Palpy's next apprentice was that Mace's arrogance level was through the roof and he wouldn't have been content to be a Sith apprentice.

I could totally see this. Mace was a good example of all that was wrong with the Jedi in that era. And honestly, he's really popular, but I'm not a huge fan.

Personally I think he would have driven Anakin into becoming Vader sooner --- canonically he kept expecting Obi-wan to fall to the darkside for having normal emotions (he is literally that meme of 'you took a perfectly good -blank' and gave it anxiety').

You're telling me that Anakin, who feels things so intensely, wouldn't have dealt with that same scrutiny on-top of Qui-Gon's 'trust in the force' shenanigans and even more severe ascetic rhetoric.

No one was a good fit for Anakin, he was a special case that needed the efforts of more than one Master to properly guide him.
In the newer High Republic books they mention that the Jedi Order had support plans to consult with other Masters/The Council for Jedi with more specialised powers but looks like they phased that out before Anakin’s era.

I mean who knows? Maybe without the responsibility of training the Chosen One Obi could have figured out Palpatine's plan right off and had him arrested before Anakin fell. Butterfly wings and hurricanes on Camino and all that. But honestly nothing Qui Gon did in the first movie makes me think he's particularly good at anything.
