Tropes you dislike - but not always

(Anonymous) 2022-06-18 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
What are your hated tropes that some authors managed to excute so well that you liked their work anyway?

grimdark and "real"-ism. So sick of them. There is nothing as unrealistic as fiction trying to be real about things.

God, yes.

I read a glorious m-preg one time.

M-preg works well in anime fanfics, but never in anything else. I still have nightmares from Junior.

DA
The only MPreg fics I've read that I enjoyed were ovi-based and involved either aliens or dragons. But yeah, it can be hot if the writer knows what they're doing.

They can be a lot of fun, as long as it doesn't attempt to make the concept logical or go into too many technical details. Once you start trying to reason out how it would actually work, then you realize how ridiculous the premise is. So it's best for the writer to focus on the emotions, and how the pregnancy affects the plot and kind of cut to something else when it's time to talk about how the baby comes out.

Oh, I feel that!
I hate mpreg taken seriously except I don't mind for Kyou Kara Maou? I guess I can accept that demons just have other physiology????

I'm into harem stories when the main character isn't the stereotypical virgin loser.

I hate ABO with a burning passion but one of my favorite writers from a certain fandom/ship writes like, 20% non-ABO fluff and 80% ABO. Ended up getting into her ABO shit too.

Random Thought

(Anonymous) 2022-06-18 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I have nowhere else to dump this seemingly semi-important but not really thought:

A few months ago I needed a FUCKING BREAK from social media but I simply just wanted to log out for maybe a week or two but I swear to fucking God, no matter where I looked I couldn't find the simple "Log Out" button for most apps. I simply just removed the apps from my phone but it still annoyed me endlessly because I know this is these fucking companies wanting users to remain logged in and using the apps 24/7.

Today, I got a sense of wanting to logout for a bit again. Fucking surprised as all fucking hell that Tumblr seemingly updated their app to logout MUCH easier. Twitter was a bit if a pain, even after going to the FAQ. Like the sheer having to pressing one link to get to another to get to another to get to another to get to the "Log Out" button is fucking ridiculous!!! Under the suspicion that these "easier" navigations to logging out was forced via laws or something.

Just fuck major corporations. Fuck the tech industry. Fuck social media. Fuck my fandom. Fuck my peers. Fuck my friends. Fuck everyone. Fuck my fucking phone. Wasted 20 fucking seconds trying to type fucking PERIOD to end a sentence and this fucking phone keeps telling me my thumb hit the space bar. Fuck autocorrect. How often am I meaning to write "Mr" instead of "me" you sexist piece junk, how often am I talking about a fucking "foe" when I am just simply trying to write "for"? Technology is fucking stupid!!!!! Really?! Life is easier when a random depressed bitch is misdirecting her anger at fucking autocorrect???

... can't help much but I don't have any SNS apps on my smartphone anymore, I just log into Facebook/Twitter/whatever on my phone's browser so I can easily log out or just not open it when I don't feel like it. But yeah fuck major corporations, the tech industry, social media for forcing me to do this for the sake of my mental well being.
