Eh. The brother may not have been the favorite, but it's sadly common in family dynamics for one or more sibling's desires to be catered to while another sibling's desires are overlooked and they are expected to be accommodating.

Maybe that wasn't the case here, and it was just a one-off, in which case, nobody's perfect and all parents have their parenting fail moments. But if this is the kind of thing that happened repeatedly in OP's family dynamic, then yeah, it's actually a pretty toxic dynamic.
