Re: What will you never forgive?

Mine’s really petty. When I was in high school, MCR was on their Black Parade tour and they were gonna play in a city that was just a half an hour drive from me. I begged my parents to let me go and they agreed as long as I could raise the money for two tickets (one for me and one for one of my parents). I worked my ass off babysitting and got the money, but my parents went back on their word and decided I was too young and that I could see them when I was in college. Of course, MCR broke up when I was in college, so I never got to see them, and to rub salt on the wound, my parents got my little sister One Direction tickets when she was in middle school for her birthday.

That's not petty, that's a terrible thing they did! And ridiculous - one of the parents was going with you, right, what the hell were they afraid of? (Sounds like they just didn't like the music and didn't want to go).

I went to concerts in high school all the time and it was fine. Helicopter parents are the worst.

My parents were just like this. My mother can't understand why I've gone NC.

OP, they're back!!!

I hope you can get tickets this time around! I was too broke always to go to Any concerts in high school.

AYRT My best friend actually got tickets for me, so I’ll be seeing them later this year! I just know I’m gonna cry. XD

I'm so glad you get to go!

sadly, your parents probably didn't approve of mcr based on appearances and because they're a rock group. one direction, on the other hand, is a boy band and looks more tame in comparison. maybe they also thought you'd get dragged into a mosh pit and knocked around. there's less likely to be a mosh pit happening in a boy band audience made up of mostly teen girls.

This is so weird to me because it was the 00s, not the 1950s. Rock bands that look like rock bands had been around for decades at that point, it wasn't some new phenomenon. OP's parents were probably into rock bands of their own generation, some of which were a lot wilder.
