For some people it probably does, but I sure haven't ever found a reason to be glad I didn't kill myself at age 11.

Yeah, my personal experience has been that some things get better. Popularity and coolness matter less, most surface-level insecurities matter less. The sense that you will never get over even inconsequential failures generally goes away.

OTOH, true existential dread and existential despair were barely even on my radar as a teen, and now they're there all the time, an infinite suffocating darkness that needs to be held at bay.
