I don't mind talking to teenagers hen its just strictly about fandom and never about any 18+ topics; but I've been so relectant to make friends in general - mostly due to the platform.

Its so weird thinking back on Livejournal days pre-2010. I am very aware that it had issues and wasn't flawless, but I certain made more friends on there regardless of age - especially when it came to fandom stuff (I certainly remember making friends with adults in the Naruto fandom alongside teenage friends - and it hadn't been creepy at all because we were too busy either shitposting or taking about recent updates to the series. I get a little sad that I had fallen out of touch with a few of them when LJ just kind of died around 2012 when people either moved onto tumblr or twitter).

With Tumblr, its very easy not to talk to anyone ever. Not to mention the absolute batshittery that would happen on there when someone suddenly decided who was too problematic and other things along that line that made interacting not worth it. IDK, I still enjoy fandom - but its hell when it consists mostly of teens.

Yeah. Plataforms like LJ or DW or good old forums make it very easy for anyone to jump into a conversation and the ages of everyone involved barely matter - it's not how it works in Tumblr or Twitter for instance, where conversations tend to be 1:1 more often, and I do think there was a bigger shift in online attitudes with that.
