Steve isn't smart enough or strong enough to make the snap. I'd rather Thor does it and survives due to being a god.

I don't think it's necessarily a matter of being smart enough, or even a matter of being strong enough. I think a lot of it might have to do with having the will to do it.

Agreed. Is it ever established that wielding the stones requites strength or intelligence? I mean, it obviously requires immense strength in order to wield them and not die, but besides the whole it-kills-you bit, couldn't basically anyone wield them--provided said person had a unifying device such as the gauntlet?

In which case the real argument is that Tony was the only one with the tech skills to be able to make a gauntlet in a pinch, and there's no way he would've let Steve take on the responsibility of using it unless it was impossible for him to do it himself.

Not that you couldn't find a way around that, you definitely could. I have no horse in this race, I'm just thinking out loud.

What I mean is Steve isn't able to get the glove from Thanos. And no one has any reason to throw him the glove over, say, Thor.

(Anonymous) 2022-07-23 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I wondered if you would be back.

You don't need to be smart to snap. And you don't need to be strong either as long as surviving isn't an issue.

(Anonymous) 2022-07-23 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh, If Steve ever got the cauntlet he'd wish to travel back in time to Peggy.

(Anonymous) 2022-07-23 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
You're really fixated on that, aren't you? How sad.

(Anonymous) 2022-07-24 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Lol. I can't tell if you are a jilted Stucky shipper or Tony Stark stan.

(Anonymous) 2022-07-24 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
I've honestly been wondering what their deal is. It's like they're holding a big clumsy sign saying "I'M AN OBNOXIOUS DICK WHO HATES STEVE ROGERS TO AN IRRATIONAL DEGREE, PLEASE DRAW CONCLUSIONS."

Maybe they hate Stucky shippers and Tony stans, and their hope is to foment hostility by being dickish in a way that is easily identified with those groups?

(Anonymous) 2022-07-24 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
DA This is very possible. But whether that's true or not, they are a massive asshole.

(Anonymous) 2022-07-24 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Ehh, they're obnoxious. I reserve "massive asshole" for people who do something worse than assert their fannish opinions rudely on a forum designed for airing contentious opinions.

(Anonymous) 2022-07-24 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
My guess is a smug, obnoxious Steggy stan.

(Anonymous) 2022-07-24 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Guys. Ixnay on the overplay of you'ses hands yall! (the secondhand embarrassment is killing me)

(Anonymous) 2022-07-24 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Steve proved he was too selfish to do the Snap by going back and screwing with the timeline just to be with Peggy.

(Anonymous) 2022-07-24 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Don't you ever get tired?

(Anonymous) 2022-07-24 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't expect to see the same opinion here, huh. What always gets me is that he screws with Peggy's life as well.

(Anonymous) 2022-07-24 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Just have Groot run up and do it. He'd be fine.
